Two new paintings

I’m on Instagram (iamrctorres) now! Here are a couple oil paintings I wrapped up on Saturday. For me, every oil painting teaches me something new about process, technique, the context of the painting and myself as an artist. I expect it will be like that for the rest of my life.

The one on the left is 16″x20″ and the smaller one is 11″x14″. Both are Ampersand panels.

For The People

Over the last year, I’ve been the Art Director for Trefun Studios on their first game, For the People for Facebook! Check it out here!

Here’s some of the work I did for them. It’s always enjoyable to work with a small team, because you get to wear a lot of hats and really push yourself. I also learned a lot about the setting of the game. Washington, DC has such amazing architecture. As with any project, this is not even the tip of the iceberg of all the work that had to be done by such a great, hardworking team. What a great effort! I hope you’ll play the game.

In the interest of posting more often I want to start posting my sketches as often as I can. Here’s something I whipped up in an hour tonight:

And here’s something I’ve been noodling on for longer than I expected; I’m kind of obsessing over the background, it’s gone through several revisions. There are also some elements that are turned off right now because I haven’t developed them. I’ll definitely post a breakdown of the whole thing when it’s done!
